Lovely skiing and crocheting week-end, in good company

Holidays are over, back to school/daycare/work… Last week-end we went to visit my cousin near Chamonix (the crocheting one): the girls skied and played together (their daughter is the same age as Prune), the boys went ski-touring… while sandrine and I stayed inside, crocheting by the fireside: Perfect !! 😀

See that beautiful sweater she’s started ? I can’t wait to see it finished. Of course she’s improvising it as usual but she also took inspiration from this one as I brought her some mag to have a look at…

She went shopping for yarn and I went along… Couldn’t resist some gorgeous “Silenzio” yarn, a yummy wool/alpaca/acrylic blend. Look at those perfect colors !! It was actually just what I needed for my new hat design, and I whipped 2 during my time there. Just need to finish them off, but I was just SO frustrated that both skeins seemed to have a different yardage:
– first pink skein I used was enough to make one hat, plus one earflap. So I thought okay, I’ll make the second hat sans-earflaps and use the remnant for my second earflap on hat #1.
– but with second pink skein, I didn’t even have enough to complete the hat ! :-/
So now I have to accept the fact that I need to use a couple meters from a third skein to finish both hats. I always have that dream of things falling perfectly into place, with just the right amount of yarn in a skein for my designs… Like that yarn was made exactly for my designs..!! 😉

Also bought some yarn for a hoodie for our friends’ little boy, born a couple ago. I’m not too sure what their tastes are, but they seem more on the keep-it-classic side. We’ll see where that leads me. I also finally started a larger Roselette for Prune (she’s starting to outgrow her first one) with some pretty pink acrylic recycled yarn. Nice plan, but as I got towards the end of the sweater I realised this one would weight a ton as the yarn is probably too thick for this size’s hook.
I thought this would be the occasion to work on upsizing the Roselette, but although the numbers should be fine, I believe that yarn is not.
Now I can either start again that “6T” size with another yarn, or stay with that yarn and a larger hook, and maybe downsize it… I’ll probably have to think about it for a bit. Either way, I’m frogging it …

Finally, I hope you’ve already entered my FIBER GIVEAWAY ! You have until the 10 th to leave a comment and maybe win some free fiber.

Maude & Prune are growing so quickly! I had a lady in the shop today ask me to hold her newborn while she attended to her daughter, her newborn had that gorgeous baby smell and was sooooo tiny, Its been 12years since Jack was that small, he has grown up too quickly! 🙁
