News, knitting and Xmas markets

Sorry for the seemingly abandonned blog, I seem to be writing more in my french blog now as most of my recent news are more local… no new pattern release yet (even though several only need a final polish !), so busy on other things !

In september my husband and a friend threw a great surprise party for my 40th birthday. That was great, and just what I needed as the last years have taken their toll : health issues for my husband, impacting the whole family. Everything is still not perfect, but we’re learning to cope, he’s very slowly getting better. And feeling the support of all our friends and family was just perfect.
My present was also perfect : 3 days on my own in nearby Uriage, in a hotel with no food no cook, no kids to take care of… the only program for the day being to be pampered & massaged in the thalassotherapy center. So perfect. That was a couple weeks ago, and my friend also came to the thalassatherapy so we could chat and enjoy this treat together. Now I’ll be wanting the same present every year !! 😛

And. I’ve been KNITTING ! Quite amazing for those who know me. But the minute I saw Stephen West’s Enchanted Mesa on FB, I had to cast on. Found all sorts of matching yarns in tones of orange/plum/pink in my huge stash. And off I went.

It’s now nearly finished, but I had all sorts of things slowing me down : I misread the directions for the collar and knit it too short… Then because all the yarns are so different and I have only a limited amount of each, I had to fudge, frog and reknit a couple places.

I’m now down to sleeves, rekniting them for the 2nd time each or so. But they will be orange with pink cuffs, to use every last bit of the remaining light pink. So far I’m in love, and all those who saw it like it too. Pretty neat. Also, it feels so warm and light, I can’t wait to wear it !

And just to show I WAS busy lately, a few pictures of the 2 Xmas markets we did with my friend Sophie. Lots of things to prepare ahead (tons of leather funky coin-purses, elven felt hats and fingerless wristlets…), then very cold days outside ! But it was neat to meet lots of friends and make new ones, talk about my crafting workshops ect… We’ll be back next year !
