When I was a kid, I first learned to knit with my grand ma who taught me. I was so proud when I first knit my first sweater aged 16 ! And made tons of crazy hats for my friends.
Then in my early thirties I taught myself to crochet and it was so easy to create shapes in 3 dimensions that I found it really hard to go back to knitting ! I hardly ever knit for nearly 2 decades…

And then suddenly this winter, some health issues meant all I “could do” was to knit. Like it was the only thing my brains could manage 😀
So I did knit, made tons of fingerless gloves as Xmas presents for my daughters, then for my brother, my best friend, my god-daughter… And suddenly I had written a knitting pattern !

A super easy and beginner-friendly knitting pattern too, as brain-fog and lack of knitting technique meant I kept them as basic and quick to knit as possible in my book. And super versatile and easy to wear too !
- they can be knit flat or in the round
- with or without thumb, depending on how “fiddly” you’re ready to knit
- with 3 sizes to choose from (smaller women’s hands to larger men’s hands)
- using super simple increases, decreases, cast-on and bind off techniques (if you’ve already made a “kfb” increase you’ll be all good!)
Finally, I love how the ribbing goes all the way over the fingers to keep our hands warm even in my cold mountains… And how easy it is to fold it for warmer days or to have full use of your fingers for instrument playing or crocheting …
The pattern for the Last minute mitts is now available on RAVELRY only:
