I kept saying “Sewing is not for me, I don’t have the patience and can’t get the sewing machine to work right”… However ever since we moved here I felt the urge to get it out again of the cupboard, esp. with a such large table to work on in the living room.
And then it happened today. Suddenly I digged into my bags of “fabric and stuff”, put the sewing machine on the table once DH took the girls out for a walk…
And an hour or two later, Tada! I made 2 mattress protectors for the girls (potty training is a difficult issue for Plume so yep, we’re still into that) following the great idea I found there a while ago. Of course mine are nowhere as fancy or well made, and I didn’t even try to follow her tutorial. And you certainly don’t want to see the wrong side or ugly seams (getting the tension is still difficult for me, no magic yet :-P).
But I figure that for something that is going to be peed on (?) on a regular basic, it’s well good enough. I’m very proud of myself !! 😀
Feeling confident again, I told the girls we’re sewing this afternoon. Plume wants a cat (maybe like this one ?). Or maybe we’ll be brave and try a Ruby doll, or even those super cute Baby Chibi dolls.. I also have a book from my childhood with toys and dolls to make. We might have a look in there too. (We’ll see how long my enthusiasm lasts though… :-P) And I’ll have to go to Grenoble grab some pretty fabrics 🙂
Speaking of pretty things: if you love matryoshkas as I do, look at that calendar ! 🙂
Now all I need is a working color printer. :-/
Some progress on the crochet front, but I’ll keep that for a next post. Hoping you’re having a great week-end !
You give me hope! I thought I was the only person who didn’t have the skill or patience! Hang in there and keep us updated. 🙂
Me too — I traded my sewing machine to someone to hem 5 pairs of pants for me(!). PS You could print out the matryoshka and have the girls color the different pages.
