It was summer…

Summer was good. We tried to relax and enjoy the warm weather, spent quality time with family and friends. The girls made new friends, spent time with old but faraway friends, spent hours in the sea or the swimming pool. They are such sweet girls.

I started a new project for my niece. Using a cotton blend yarn as she lives on a warm island. This started as a basic Roselette, but with added increases and rounds to make up for the thinner yarn: it’s a worsted weight, and although I used a super large hook for the job (6.5 mm) I still needed more stitches and rounds for the yoke to make it a 10 yo size.

After ripping and restarting again several times, I had to admit this was not going to happen in time before their departure. No problem, I’ll mail it to them… couldn’t resolve to offering something I wasn’t fully satisfied with !! And so I ripped it once more, and it stopped being a Roselette, to become a distant relative: a cute cardigan with a bottom lacy stitch and a picot edging. Now I love the result, and it looks so cute on my elder daughter !! I hope it will fit my niece just as well.

… and this may become a new pattern, if enough people show their interest. When I have published the 2 designs already waiting for their turns 😉
