Finished Quincy, and a new blanket

I finished my Quincy hat. I enjoyed knitting it very much, learning several tricks along the way (never worked with slipped stitches much before). And the pattern is very well written, looking so deceiptively simple I thought at first there were parts missing 😉
I used some leftover Merino Bulky by Handpaintedyarn.com, (Cuarenta colorway, overdyed with red). I hope it won’t pill as bad as the Roselette I made with the same yarn. I figured a hat might not suffer as much friction.. We’ll see !
I’m not as thrilled by the finished hat as I expected though. Maybe the color is not the best for my complexion, and I would probably prefer having the twist on the other side of the hat. (pay attention to that before starting to pick up the stitches).
Will probably be a good hat for the girls this winter ! 🙂

I also started a new project: Back to crochet this time. Remember this blanket I crocheted with the remnants of my grandmother’s yarns ?
Well, one of my cousin is due with her first baby in a few months, and my grandmother asked me to crochet a blanket for her. (long story short, she used to make one for each of us before she got Parkinson’s desease and can’t crochet anymore).
So, I looked for a similar enough yarn, her yarn being now discontinued by Phildar, and I’ve already made.. let me count, 7 squares ! (pic was taken a couple days ago).
I am joining the squares as I go this time, loving it ! The colors are always the same so there’s no worry about final placement. 🙂
