Summer’s here !

It’s been really hot for a few days now.. and it’s June already !!

Today I got the inflatable pool out for the girls for the first time, and we ate outside and had a barbecue.. I love it when even the school/work days feel like holidays ! 🙂

The puffy-flowers little blankie is nearly done… except that I’m not sure about the final rows of the edging. I tried several options (see on top I tried 3 different color combinations) and will let it sit until inspiration hits.

I’ve also started working on yet another project: One of the handles of my favorite handbag broke last week, so I really need a new one (even though I found a nice one at my local thriftstore last saturday).. I had this design in my head for a while anyway, so it’s a good opportunity to give it a try.
The yarn is Rowan’s All season cotton, and the colors are oh-so-pretty together. What you’re seeing will become the bottom of the bag…

And even though this yarn has been sitting around for a couple weeks, I don’t think I showed it yet so that will add a little spinning content: I spun this single from kettle dyed Jacob wool purchased from Shunklies on Etsy (I still can’t believe how cheap she sells her fiber). I was really surprised at how scratchy/ so-not-soft the wool felt when I received it, and spun it as a single while sitting at my boot in a flea market a couple weeks ago. It’s now all done, washed and slightly felted and all, and really it feels and looks much better. I might even keep it for myself, we’ll see. (it still doesn’t feel suitable for next-to-skin items though, even for me).
I also have lots of fiber to show, with some pretty cool art yarn kits which I should add to the store soonish… I should have pics to show in my next post. 😛

Oh, and yes, of course now I have to announce the winner of May’s Fiber Giveaway :

Congrats to Bianca !! I will be emailing you to get your adress details !
